Architecture and interiors,
and the stories that come with them.

Atelier Aku is a Bali-based studio working across architecture, interiors and build, with a team that has spent years learning how this island builds, and why it matters. Founded and led by a Balinese architect, the studio is shaped through a close creative partnership with his French partner, an interior architect whose perspective brings a refined sensitivity to materiality, atmosphere, and spatial experience.

Guided in part by Kosala Kosali, a centuries-old Balinese approach to placement and proportion, we consider how a home sits on its site, how air and light travel through it, and what it asks of the people living inside.

ATELIER AKU

We are drawn to projects with a strong sense of place and a clear, honest brief. As a Bali-based architecture and interior design studio, we create homes, villas, and hospitality spaces that feel calm, grounded, and deeply connected to the people who live in them.

Our approach is intuitive and personal. We pay close attention to the energy of a site, the atmosphere of a space, and the way light, materials, and proportions shape everyday living.

Working across architecture, interiors, and build, we accompany each project from the first conversation about a piece of land through to completion, with close involvement and care throughout the process.

kosala kosali

At the heart of many of our projects lies the wisdom of Kosala Kosali, the traditional Balinese science of spatial planning. This ancestral knowledge teaches that architecture is about creating harmony between people, nature, and the unseen energies of a place.

By considering orientation, movement, proportion, and the relationship between each space, Kosala Kosali helps shape homes and spaces that feel naturally balanced and at ease.

We embrace these principles not as a rigid formula, but as a timeless foundation for designing meaningful homes rooted in Bali.
